12:23 pm - OMG
Rolled over around dawn today to answer the call of nature and when i looked out the window I saw the flaky white stuff coming down. Not only that but it was sticking in a lot of places. As wet as it was last night I thought maybe just on flower beds, but no, even the undisturbed pavement had snow on it. Now its early afternoon and there is still snow on the ground. Mind you I can still see the tops of the blades of grass, but it's still there. I guess this means that all of America's Cul-de-sac will be shut down or on limited operations for a day or two.

05:04 pm - Saddened
Happened to check the news on Wikipedia a moment ago and was saddened to see the Majel Barrett-Roddenbury has died. Her article did say that she recorded dialogue for the new movie (who else could voice the computer) so at least she can maintain her status of having appeared in some form in every version of Trek.

04:50 pm - On Veterans Day
On the plus side before I carried my ass off to work this morning I did manage to remember to hang the flag on the post by the front door. Rare that I ever put it out, but always try for the necessary days, weather and work schedule permitting. (Not going to put it out at 7am when it might rain around noon, before I get home)
Though 8 hours and change later my mind had completely forgotten the fact as to what day it is. Got home from work, and for the second day in a row went to the mailbox. Rarely do I go more than once or twice a week. Pay all the bills online so all thats there is junk and the paper copies of the bills anyways, but actually expecting real mail at the moment. But I digress. I found the mailbox empty (including the Tuesday Saver with the grocery ads) and was a bit pissed off until I got to the door, saw the flag out and remembered the day.....

03:21 pm - Sadness
While on a break at work today I took a moment to scan the news stories on my phone. Much to my shock and dismay at the top of the entertainment page was the following headline "David Tennant confirms he's leaving Doctor Who"
He plans to do the four one hour specials that are set for this year and then move on.
Question now is who do you get to take the role next?

02:48 pm - On being a Red Sox fan....
This time of the year brings blessed joy and much anxiety. Playoff time for the Red Sox. And we were down 3 games to 1 going into game 5 on Thursday. Down 7-0 in the seventh. All seemed lost. Season looked over. Then all of a sudden a little while later and we were back in the game. To make matters worse was watching the game with other fans too. Superstition was running rampant. Rally cap time, middle of the eigth inning we HAD to play 'Sweet Caroline' on the jukebox. Come 12:16 am we finally won the game. Strangely thats the same time Yankee hitter Aaron Boone hit a homerun against us back in 2003 to put us out of the playoffs.
Now, filled with hope and the usual dire thoughts on what can go wrong I look to game 6 tonight. Already heard from most of the Sox fans that they will be out again. Being superstitious, I have my hat ready to go and yet another shirt of someone no longer on the team ready to wear. Seems if I wear a current players shirt they have a bad game. Hopefully we can win tonight and force a game 7. We did it in 2004, we did it in 2007. Just hope the luck hasn't dried up. Now just a matter of making sure I eat a good dinner before going to watch the game at the bar. Need a good base to drink on since I know much will be consumed during the game. Which i'm sure will be a long game because thats just how Boston rolls. Why play for 3 hours when you can take 4?
Oh, and I hope to god that someone with fashion sense dresses TBS' Craig Sager tonight. Dear god that man wears some loud, outdated outfits. Where is Doctor Who's "Extreme Makeover" Davina-bot when you really need her!!!!!!!

05:59 pm - On the state of things.....
For some reason every time I put on the news, especially during daylight hours, I get more and more worried. Today was one of those great WTF moments in life. Stocks were down about 300 (suprise suprise) when I finally decided it was time to wash up and shower. In the 20 minutes it took me to do that I came out to a market that was 600 points down. I've been a little scared about the economy lately, but what the hell was that!?!?!?!?!?!?! Add on top of that my bank, Wachovia, being in some hideous state of limbo at the moment and I really wonder where we're headed. Just glad I'm not heavily involved in the market myself at the moment. Thank god for more stable valued funds. (I know at my age I should be more agressive, but glad my inate laziness keeps me from playing with my investments much.)

04:46 pm - The Doctor
Just finished watching "Turn Left". For the third time. I really genuinely loved the episode. But thats just probably my whole fascination with "What if?" stories. Was great seeing Rose back too.

06:48 pm - Boston on the Road
Could someone please andwer the following riddle:
Why can't teams from the Boston area win on the road anymore???
Patriots: Home field advantage all playoffs long, travel for the Super Bowl....LOSE
Revolution: OK, its the Two Leg Agregate, but still, MLS Cup Finals...LOSE
Celtics: OK, so its all the teams, but every road game....LOSE
Red Sox: Nearly unbeatable at home, but suck it up in Tampa & Baltimore and....LOSE
Somehow only the lowly Bruins managed to do something on the road, but still sucked it up all regular season every time we went into the hated halls of Montreal. Still, at the end of the sieries they LOST
Grrrrrrrr......Driving me nuts

06:38 pm - The death of logic
Went to the grocery store today...actually two of them. Never fails that no one store has everything I need on sale at the same time. Thankfully all the major Grocers are within a few minutes drive of home, so its not like I'm driving to the Oceanfront to save Fifty Cents. Though the Fresh Market at Hilltop is my choice place for hard Italian Cheeses. But I digress. I've been making the small investment in reusable grocery bags lately. Got two at Bloom the other day, and they promptly bagged my groceries in them. Same thing at Kroger, right in the reusable bags, though they did ask if I wanted them bagged that way. Now we get to Food Lion, the wonderful company that gives me a paycheck. Knowing how things would go, I put the reusable bags (yet again two, i'm nothing if not anal retentive) at the FRONT of the order. Not much of an order, but hey, I wanted them to USE THE BAGS. Nope, took them and put them right into a plastic bag and bagged up the rest of the order. By no means am I buying the bags strictly for enviormental reasons. It is a part of the decision, but the main reason is I'm sick of having 15 bags of groceries to haul in when it easily could have been about 7. Still have Farm Fresh and Harris Teeter to test out. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have something I need on sale soon. Usually don't go to HT unless they do have something good on sale, and only usually used Farm Fresh when I need something and don't feel like driving.
